Tell Google which pages not to retrieve
Disable retrieval of unclassified information via robots.txt file
The robots.txt file tells search engines what parts of the site are open for access and retrieval and what parts are off limits. This file must be named "robots.txt" and placed in the root directory of the site. Please note that search engines may still retrieve pages that are prohibited from being retrieved by the robots.txt file, so please use safer methods for pages containing confidential information.

You may not want search engines to retrieve certain pages on your site because it is not beneficial for users to have these pages appear in search results. Please avoid:
- Let Google retrieve internal search result pages. Users don't want to click on a search engine result and come to another search result page on your site.

More Secure Methods of Handling Confidential Information
Using a robots.txt file is not the most effective way to block sensitive or confidential content; it only prevents a normally executing search engine from retrieving the page, not from sending the page from your server to the browser that sent the request. One reason robots.txt files should not be used is that if there happens to be a link on the Internet to your blocked URL (e.g., a reference record), the search engine can still refer to that URL (displaying only the URL, not the title link or summary). In addition, some unregulated or malicious search engines do not follow the "roamer exclusion criteria" and may violate your instructions in the robots.txt file. Finally, curious users may look at the directories or subdirectories in the robots.txt file and guess the URLs of content that you do not want exposed.
If you just don't want Google to display the page and don't mind other users who know the link visiting the page, you can use the noindex
Marker. However, if you want to ensure absolute security, use more thorough authentication methods, such as requiring users to enter a password, or removing the page from the site altogether.
